Ram Gopal has more than 30 years of experience driving transformation and growth in financial services. He last served as CEO of Barclays India, where he led a large-scale business transformation, scaling the corporate and investment banking franchise to $0.5 billion in revenue. Under his leadership, the capability center expanded to over 30,000 professionals, establishing the bank as a key player in India’s foreign banking sector.
Currently, Ram focuses on the intersection of climate action, technology, and financial sustainability as CEO and Co-Founder of Kaamyabi, a green energy startup focused on MSMEs launched in January 2024. He drives the development of renewable energy infrastructure and carbon reduction projects. Kaamyabi has built a solar pipeline of 2.5 MW with five active projects and forged more than ten strategic partnerships with energy advisory firms, EPC contractors, O&M providers, carbon registries, and financiers. Beyond solar, the company pursues innovative carbon solutions like biochar, compressed biogas (CBG), and nature-based enhanced rock weathering.
Ram also serves as an investor and advisor to four promising startups: PowerMarket.ai, a U.K.-based AI-driven solar analytics and energy trading platform; MyPetz.com, India’s omnichannel pet care platform; MyGALF.com, a corporate wellness platform backed by India’s Startup India Seed Fund Scheme; and Previu Health, a health tech startup focused on AI-powered early cancer detection and community health.
He is a Visiting Professor at GITAM University, contributing to executive education and full accredited courses on banking, finance, and entrepreneurship.
